Ian has devoted his life to literally improving the world. Over two decades, he has been a private investor in tens of millions of dollars in real estate transactions, revitalizing both individual properties and entire communities, and developing award-winning places to live, work, and play, while staying true to his commitment to the environment.
Ian’s new Baltimore Eagle development on Baltimore’s Historic Charles Street, a national byway, gained media attention as far away as London, won multiple “Best of” awards, and claimed recognition as Baltimore City’s hottest nightclub.
Ian’s green revitalization of a collapsing warehouse breathed new life into the Station North Arts & Entertainment District and gave rise to new digs for Joe Squared, named among “America’s Top 50 Best Pizza Spots” by Food Network and featured in Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives”.
After revitalizing a vacant residential row on the unit block of 21st Street in Baltimore, Ian is now commissioning local sculptors to fabricate and install gargoyles. His work has enhanced the block’s architectural flair and resulted in its notoriety as “Monster Row”.
In light of his initiatives, Ian has earned official citations from members of Congress, the U.S. Armed Forces, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and many others for his “outstanding leadership and commitment to the community”. Currently, Ian serves on various boards of directors and as President of Investors United – America’s oldest brick-and-mortar school for real estate investing. He also enjoys ice climbing, ski-mountaineering, bonsai, and raising cashmere goats and honeybees on his farm in Maryland.

In cooperation with an international team of artists led by the critically acclaimed artist “Gaia”, Ian donated the canvas (a three story apartment building wall) for the creation of Baltimore’s largest anaglyphic 3D mural.

Ian jointly authored the curriculum for UB’S new undergrad real estate degree. Ian delivered the keynote address at the formal announcement ceremony, and presented the University with a commemorative flag flown over the U.S. White House.
